Port of Bizerte (Tunisia)

Weather…

The Port of Bizerte holds an exceptional strategic position at the northernmost tip of Africa, situated near the primary maritime route between Gibraltar and the Suez Canal. The port infrastructure includes an outer harbor on the Mediterranean and an inner harbor within the Lake of Bizerte, linked by a deep navigable canal. It serves as the heart of Tunisia's heavy industry, hosting the STIR oil refinery, making it the nation's most important terminal for crude oil imports and refined petroleum exports. In addition to the energy sector, Bizerte is a major hub for the export of cement, metallurgical products, and naval repairs, supported by the dry docks in Menzel Bourguiba. Historically, it was a major naval base for Phoenicians, Romans, and later the French, leading to the 1961 Bizerte crisis. Today, the port is a modern economic engine, capable of accommodating large deep-draft vessels and cruise ships, connecting Tunisia's northern region to global markets.
