Ciempozuelos is a town in the Community of Madrid, located about 35 kilometers south of the capital. The town has a long history dating back to Roman times. However, it is most famous for the establishment of several large and influential psychiatric hospitals in the 19th century, making it a pioneer in mental healthcare in Spain. These institutions, with their impressive architecture, remain a significant part of the town's identity and economy. Beyond its medical history, Ciempozuelos is surrounded by a fertile agricultural landscape, renowned for growing vegetables and especially strawberries. The town center has a traditional Castilian character, with the Plaza de la Constitución at its heart. Here stands the Church of Santa María Magdalena, a notable example of Baroque architecture. The town is also located near Parque Warner Madrid, one of Spain's largest theme parks, making it a convenient base for families. Getting to Ciempozuelos from Madrid is easy and convenient via the Cercanías commuter train (line C-3), with the journey taking about 40 minutes. The town is also well-connected to the highway network. The best time to visit is during spring to enjoy the strawberry season, or in autumn when temperatures are milder and well-suited for exploring the town and its rural surroundings.
