Zurriola beach
Zurriola beach (Playa de la Zurriola) is one of the three urban beaches of San Sebastián (Donostia), internationally renowned for its youthful, dynamic, and vibrant surfing atmosphere. While the neighboring La Concha and Ondarreta beaches lie in protected bays, Zurriola is directly open to the Cantabrian Sea, resulting in much more intense wave action. This exposed location makes it one of Europe's most beloved urban surfing paradises, where locals and young people from all over the world meet to conquer the waves. The beach stretches for about 800 meters in front of the bustling Gros neighborhood, covered with fine, golden sand. The Monte Ulia mountain rising at its eastern end and the characteristic modern architecture of the Kursaal Congress Centre on the western side create a stunning contrast between the natural and built environments. The seaside promenade is full of life, with skateboarders, runners, and walkers enjoying the coastal atmosphere. Although its waters are not as calm as the city's other beaches, Zurriola's unique, sporty, and energetic vibe offers an unmissable experience for those seeking active recreation and the raw, natural beauty of the Basque coast. Sunsets viewed from here are particularly spectacular, as the sun dips below the ocean horizon, casting magnificent light over the sea.

Family-friendly & For kids
Due to the strong waves, it is less ideal for swimming with small children; it is a perfect choice for families with teenagers and those who enjoy active sports.
Older kids will especially enjoy the surf lessons and sports courts, but the waves can be dangerous for toddlers; a playground can be found in a nearby square.
