Mongalla

Mongalla is a historically significant settlement located on the eastern bank of the White Nile in Central Equatoria State, South Sudan. During the Anglo-Egyptian Condominium era, it functioned as the capital of the Mongalla Province from 1906 until 1930, when the administrative seat was moved to Juba. Strategically positioned as a river port, it played a vital role in the navigation and logistics of the upper Nile region. The area is situated at the southern edge of the vast Sudd wetlands, influencing its ecology and seasonal flood patterns.
