What is this place?
The BMW Rosslyn Plant is the first BMW manufacturing facility outside Germany, producing vehicles for local and export markets. It is a major employer and a symbol of the South African automotive industry.
Visiting
The plant has guided tours upon prior reservation, providing a behind-the-scenes look at vehicle assembly. Without an appointment, however, the premises are not accessible.
Where to view it
From the adjacent highway, the large halls and the factory parking lot with hundreds of new cars can be seen. A small hill south of the plant has a good overview.
