Červený kláštor

The Červený Kláštor, or Red Monastery, is a fascinating medieval monastic complex situated in the breathtaking Pieniny National Park of northern Slovakia, right on the Polish border. Originally founded in the early 14th century by Carthusian monks, it derives its name from the distinctive red bricks that were originally used in its construction. Following its dissolution and subsequent revival, it later became home to the Camaldolese order, who significantly expanded its structures and agricultural legacy. Today, it stands as a captivating testament to ascetic monastic life and the region's rich historical tapestry.
