  • Keep an eye on the ferry schedule, as the jetty area gets very busy just before departures.

La Passe is the only significant village on La Digue, the third-largest inhabited island in the Seychelles. It lies on the western coast, directly opposite Praslin, and houses the island's only ferry port as well as its entire commercial center. La Passe is famous for its nearly car-free townscape: the main means of transport are bicycles, walking, and a handful of electric buggies; noisy vehicles are largely banned. At the center of the village stands L'Union Estate, a nineteenth-century coconut plantation site with a traditional water-buffalo-driven coconut oil mill, a giant tortoise sanctuary, and the old plantation manor house. The Catholic church Notre Dame de l'Assomption with its vividly colored stained-glass windows is another landmark. From the harbor, the main road runs south to the world-renowned beach of Anse Source d'Argent, one of the most photographed beaches on the planet thanks to its iconic sculpted granite boulders.
