Getting there
The spectacular viewpoint is typically reached by a very steep uphill walk originating directly from the main coastal road on La Digue. Some visitors prefer to hire a local specialized taxi or a robust cart to comfortably get partway up the demanding hill.
Best season
It can be wonderfully visited year-round, but perfectly clear days are obviously best to fully appreciate the island's famous sunsets. The slightly drier months generally offer much better overall visibility and less slippery, hazardous paths.
Terrain & paths
The challenging ascent involves a steep, steadily winding path that can be quite physically demanding in the tropical heat. Sections of the route may be smoothly paved, but always expect uneven, natural terrain as you climb higher up the mountain.
What to bring
Good, reliable walking shoes with strong grip are highly recommended for tackling the steep, sometimes slippery incline. Bring plenty of fresh drinking water and a dependable flashlight or headlamp if you plan to stay past sunset.
Parking
Bicycles, which remain the absolute main transport mode on La Digue, can usually be left securely at the bottom of the trail. Motorized vehicles are very limited on the island, so finding car parking is generally not a major concern here.
