Cerbaiola is a settlement in the castello of Montegiardino, the smallest and southeasternmost district of San Marino. The village is situated in a photogenic rural area, historically known for its dense forests of Turkey oak (Quercus cerris), from which its name is derived. Montegiardino became part of the republic in 1463, and Cerbaiola developed as an agricultural center for this region. The architecture mainly consists of traditional farmsteads and modern residential homes widely dispersed across the hilly landscape. Geographically, Cerbaiola borders the Italian region of Marche, making the place an important border point. The economy is still partially shaped by agriculture, supplemented by small local businesses. Today, residents value the peace and untouched nature characteristic of the smallest San Marinese district.
