Canepa is a historical locality in the castello of Città di San Marino, the capital municipality of the Republic. The settlement is situated in an ecologically significant area, best known for the Grotta di Canepa, a natural cave of great geological interest. Historically, Canepa was closely linked to the defense of Mount Titano, as it lies on one of the access routes to the fortress. The architecture in this part of the municipality is a blend of old rural structures and modern residential homes arranged in terraces on the hillside. Geographically, Canepa gives spectacular views of the surrounding valleys and the medieval fortifications of the capital. The surrounding vegetation is rich in holm oaks and other Mediterranean plants, making the place a destination for nature and hiking enthusiasts.
