Malua was not just a place of worship; it also housed the Malua Theological College, the oldest theological training institution in the region. The architecture demonstrates a blend of European neo-Gothic elements with traditional Samoan structural proportions. Although replaced by a newer structure in the early 20th century, the ruins remain a significant site of heritage, documenting the radical shift in Samoa's religious and cultural landscape.
