Malua Theological College (Samoa)

Weather…

Malua Theological College, founded in 1844 by the London Missionary Society (LMS), is one of the oldest educational institutions in the Pacific region. Located on the northern coast of Upolu, it was established to train Samoan teachers and pastors for Christian missions throughout Oceania. The campus architecture blends traditional Samoan elements with 19th-century colonial styles. For decades, Malua served as an intellectual hub where not only theology but also literacy and Western sciences were taught. The institution played a pivotal role in the literacy of the Samoan population and the preservation of the native language through the translation of religious texts. To this day, the college remains the premier training center for the Congregational Christian Church Samoa (CCCS) and holds high social standing. It hosts significant annual cultural and ecclesiastical conferences that draw participants from across the entire Pacific region.
