Malua Historic Dormitories

The historic dormitories of Malua are an integral part of the Malua Theological College, founded in 1844 by the London Missionary Society (LMS). For over a century and a half, these buildings have provided housing for students and their families who traveled from across Polynesia to be trained as pastors and teachers. The architecture of the dormitories is a unique blend of European colonial styles and Samoan building elements, utilizing local materials such as coral limestone and hardwood. Life within the dormitories was strictly organized and adhered to the Christian principles of the missionaries, significantly shaping the daily lives of the inhabitants.
