Dolhasca is a town in Suceava County, located in the historic region of Moldavia, northeastern Romania. Geographically, it is positioned in the Siret River valley, precisely where the Șomuzul Mare stream flows into the Siret. The town's significance grew immensely in the late 1800s following the construction of the railway line connecting Bucharest to Chernivtsi, as Dolhasca became a key junction with a branch line extending to Fălticeni. This infrastructure spurred local economic growth and trade. One of the most prominent cultural landmarks nearby is the Probota Monastery, founded in 1530 by Prince Petru Rareș. This monastery is a masterpiece of Moldavian art and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, attracting historians and pilgrims alike. Today, Dolhasca maintains a tranquil atmosphere, with its economy primarily focused on agriculture and railway-related services. The town serves as a regional hub for education and health services for the neighboring rural communities, while preserving the authentic traditions and hospitality characteristic of the Moldavian countryside.
