Filipeștii de Târg is one of the most significant historical localities in Prahova County, situated on the left bank of the Prahova River, in an area with deep noble roots. In the 17th century, the settlement was the primary residence of the Cantacuzino family, transforming into an essential administrative and commercial center for Muntenia. Its most valuable monuments include the ruins of the Cantacuzino Palace, built between 1633 and 1641, and the Pană Filipescu Mansion, a recently restored Brâncovenesc architecture monument. The name "târg" (market town) emphasizes its former economic importance when the locality was an exchange hub for goods transiting between the mountains and the plain. In addition to its exceptional historical heritage, the commune benefits today from an advantageous geographical position between Ploiești and Târgoviște, being a place of interest for cultural and archaeological tourism due to its well-preserved remains.
