Bucov is a prominent commune located just east of Ploiești in Prahova County, renowned for its green spaces and rich history. First documented in 1429, the settlement was historically a strategic point along the Teleajen River. Today, Bucov is best known for the Constantin Stere Memorial Park, one of the largest recreational areas in the region, which also houses the Bucov Zoo. The park covers over 100 hectares and features walking trails, lakes, and monuments dedicated to the Moldavian-born politician and writer Constantin Stere, who spent his final years here. The commune is situated on the DN1B national road connecting Ploiești to Buzău, making it a popular residential choice for commuters. Bucov consists of the villages of Bucov, Bighilin, and Chițorani, with Chițorani being famous for its vineyards as part of the Prahova 'Wine Road.' The combination of cultural heritage, nature-based leisure, and modern suburban expansion makes Bucov one of the most attractive areas in the Ploiești metropolitan region.
