Brazi is one of Romania's most important industrial communes, located in Prahova County, immediately southwest of the city of Ploiești. The commune's identity is inseparable from the Petrobrazi Refinery, one of the largest and most modern oil processing facilities in Southeast Europe, currently operated by OMV Petrom. The industrialization of the area began significantly during the interwar period and was further expanded during the socialist era, making Brazi a technological pillar of the Romanian economy. Geographically, it is situated in the Ploiești Plain, benefiting from excellent infrastructure, including a dedicated railway hub and proximity to the A3 motorway. The commune consists of six villages: Brazi, Bătești, Negoiești, Popești, Stejaru, and Vătășani. In addition to the petrochemical industry, Brazi hosts a major gas-fired combined cycle power plant, which contributes significantly to the national energy grid. Despite its heavy industrial character, the local administration focuses on maintaining green spaces and modern public facilities for the residents, many of whom are employed in the local energy sector.
