Bacău Administrative Palace (Romania)

Weather…

The Administrative Palace in Bacău is an impressive architectural monument built between 1887 and 1891 in a neoclassical style with eclectic influences. The building was constructed based on the designs of architect Statie Ciortan, originally serving as the headquarters for the Prefecture and the Court of Law. Its monumental facade is characterized by Corinthian columns and rich ornamental details around the windows and cornice. Inside, the palace houses spacious halls decorated with stuccos and marble elements, reflecting the administrative grandeur of the late 19th century. During that period, Bacău was a booming economic center in Moldavia, and the building was intended to symbolize this status. Today, the palace houses the Bacău County Council and the Prefecture, remaining one of the best-preserved historic buildings in the city. It is classified as a historical monument of national importance and stands as a prime example of institutional architecture from the reign of King Carol I.
