Radzymin is a town of great historical significance, located just about 25 kilometers northeast of Warsaw. Its history is inextricably linked to one of the most decisive moments in Polish history: the Battle of Warsaw in 1920. It was here that one of the main engagements took place, halting the Soviet Red Army's advance on Europe, an event often referred to as the 'Miracle at the Vistula'. The town is therefore a major site of national remembrance. The town's most important landmark is the military cemetery, where the Polish soldiers who fell in the 1920 battle are buried. It is a poignant site that attracts visitors from all over Poland. Radzymin is also the birthplace of the Yiddish writer and Nobel laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer. Beyond its historical importance, Radzymin is now a growing town within the Warsaw metropolitan area, combining urban development with small-town charm. Visitors can explore the neo-Gothic parish church of St. John Paul II and the historic market square. Getting here from Warsaw is very easy, with regular train and bus services, making Radzymin a convenient destination for a day trip. A visit gives a unique opportunity to delve deep into 20th-century Polish history and experience a place that decisively shaped Poland's national identity. The best time to visit is in the summer, especially around August 15th, when commemorations of the Battle of Warsaw take place.
