Tagaytay City is one of the most popular getaway destinations in the Philippines, favored for its high altitude and cool climate which has a refreshing escape from the heat of Manila. Perched on a ridge, the city provides a wide-open panoramic view of Taal Volcano, the world's smallest active volcano, sitting in the middle of Taal Lake. This 'lake within a volcano within a lake' scenery is one of the most photographed landscapes in the country. Key attractions include the People’s Park in the Sky, which provides the highest viewing point, and the Sky Ranch amusement park with its iconic Ferris wheel. Tagaytay is also a major culinary destination, famous for its 'Bulalo' (beef marrow soup) which is a local staple. The ridge is lined with numerous restaurants, boutique hotels, and coffee shops that all capitalize on the remarkable volcanic vista. While popular year-round, the best time to visit is from November to February for the coolest weather. It is easily accessible from Manila in about 2 hours by car. Tagaytay is also known as a center for wellness and spirituality, home to many retreat centers and world-class spas.
