Weather…

The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem is widely regarded as one of the oldest continuously operating Christian churches in the world. Originally commissioned in 339 AD by Emperor Constantine and his mother Helena, the basilica was built directly above the cave traditional identified as the birthplace of Jesus. The present structure was largely rebuilt in the 6th century under Emperor Justinian after a Samaritan revolt. A unique feature for visitors is the 'Door of Humility,' a very low entrance designed to prevent looters on horseback in ancient times and to humble those entering the sanctuary. Inside, the church is home to memorable 4th-century Byzantine floor mosaics and newly restored wall mosaics depicting saints and biblical scenes. The spiritual heart is the Grotto of the Nativity, where a 14-pointed silver star marks the spot of the birth. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it serves as a major global pilgrimage destination, jointly administered by the Greek Orthodox, Armenian, and Roman Catholic churches.
