Fairy Meadows
Fairy Meadows, locally known as Jhoot, is a truly magical destination at the foot of Nanga Parbat, the world's ninth-highest mountain. The lush green plateau features one of the most spectacular views of the massive ice wall of the 'Killer Mountain'. Visitors come here to enjoy untouched nature, stay in simple wooden cabins, and experience the profound silence of the high Alps. It is a paradise for trekkers and photographers looking to capture the shifting light on the glaciers. The environment consists of dense pine forests providing a stark contrast to the snow-covered peaks. A popular excursion from here is the trek to the Nanga Parbat Base Camp. Dining is simple and rustic, often consisting of warming soups, local tea, and basic bread. Access is a challenge: first a nerve-wracking jeep ride from Raikot Bridge, followed by a two to three-hour trek. The best time to visit is summer (June to August), when the weather is stable and the meadows are in their prime green state.
