Playa Hermosa
Playa Hermosa is a long, pristine sandy beach regarded as one of Nicaragua's most beautiful spots. It gained fame as a filming location for the TV series 'Survivor.' Access is controlled, which helps keep the beach clean and less crowded than public beaches. It is a top destination for surfers, offering long, consistent waves. In addition to surfing, Playa Hermosa is an important nesting ground for sea turtles that come here to lay their eggs. There is an eco-resort on-site focused on sustainability, providing facilities like beach huts, showers, and a restaurant. Visitors can enjoy horseback riding along the shore or simply take in the vastness of the Pacific coast. The on-site restaurant serves fresh Nicaraguan cuisine, with grilled fish and tostones being very popular. The best time to visit is during the dry season (December to April), though the surf season picks up in May. The beach is accessible via a dirt road south of San Juan del Sur, adding to the adventure. It is the well-suited place to spend an entire day immersed in nature. The combination of a wide horizon, golden sand, and the roar of the surf makes Playa Hermosa an unforgettable experience for any nature lover.
