Yangon Inner Port (Myanmar (Burma))

Weather…

The Yangon Inner Port is the historical and economic centerpiece of maritime trade in Myanmar. It is situated on the Yangon River, approximately 32 kilometers inland from the mouth opening into the Andaman Sea. The port consists of several terminals, including Sule Pagoda, Bo Aung Kyaw, and Ahlone, which are crucial for handling general cargo, containers, and agricultural exports such as rice and pulses. Due to tidal dependence and limited water depth, only vessels with a moderate draft can access the port. Despite the development of newer deep-sea facilities like Thilawa, the inner port remains indispensable because of its proximity to the city center and established trade routes. Administration is overseen by the Myanma Port Authority, which continuously works on modernizing wharf facilities and crane systems. The port also serves as a key hub for passenger traffic and riverine logistics into the Ayeyarwady Delta.
