The refinery has an installed capacity of approximately 200,000 barrels per day and was instrumental in supplying gasoline, diesel, and LPG to the domestic market. However, since 2015, production has been suspended due to severe financial difficulties and legal disputes, leading to a protracted liquidation process. Despite the halt in operations, the site remains of immense strategic importance for national energy security due to its location at the Port of Mohammedia and its extensive storage capacities. Discussions regarding a potential restart or restructuring continue, as the facility still represents significant potential value for the Moroccan economy and its strategic infrastructure.
