Bulboaca (Castel Mimi) (Moldova)

Weather…

Castel Mimi, located in the village of Bulboaca, is Moldova's only true wine castle and a masterpiece of industrial architecture. It was commissioned in 1893 by Constantin Mimi, the last governor of Bessarabia, who applied viticultural knowledge he acquired in France. Following a massive restoration completed in 2016, the estate is now ranked among the top 15 most beautiful wineries in the world. The castle blends historic stone masonry with cutting-edge modern design, featuring expansive gardens and the country's only 'dancing fountain.' Deep beneath the castle lie extensive cellars capable of holding thousands of barrels. Beyond wine production, it serves as a major cultural and diplomatic venue, famously hosting the European Political Community summit in 2023. The estate features gourmet dining, luxury villas, and a pool, while its wines, particularly the high-end reserves, are celebrated for their exceptional quality and structure.
