Bernal
Bernal is a pretty village at the foot of the Peña de Bernal, the world's third-largest monolith. Travelers visit this Pueblo Mágico to feel the spiritual energy of the giant rock and enjoy the colonial architecture. The village is known for its quiet streets, colorful flowers, and wool handicrafts. Climbing the Peña features sweeping views of the surrounding semi-desert and is a must for hikers. In gastronomy, Bernal is famous for its Gorditas de Maíz Quebrado, stuffed corn cakes prepared fresh at every corner. The region is also part of the famous Wine and Cheese Route, making Bernal a good destination for foodies. Access is usually by car or bus from Querétaro, just a short drive away. The best time to visit is spring, especially during the equinox in March, or autumn for mild hiking weather.
