Sultan Park (Maldives)

Weather…

Sultan Park is a public park in Malé, situated on the former grounds of the Royal Palace of the Maldivian Sultans. Following the abolition of the sultanate and the transition to a republic in 1968, much of the palace complex was demolished, leaving only the park and a few structures. The park now houses the National Museum, which preserves a vast collection of historical artifacts, including regalia and archaeological finds from the pre-Islamic era. In 2017, the park underwent extensive renovation and was briefly renamed Rasrani Bageecha, featuring modern fountains and interactive displays. It serves as a vital green lung for the city and a repository of the nation's long monarchical history. The lush vegetation and tranquil atmosphere make it a popular escape from the urban bustle. It remains a symbolic link to the Maldives' royal past while providing modern recreational space.
