Al-Qurain Martyrs Museum (Kuwait)

Weather…

The Al-Qurain Martyrs Museum is a poignant national memorial in Kuwait City that commemorates a heroic stand of the resistance during the 1991 Iraqi invasion. The site, originally a private villa in the Al-Qurain residential district, became a battlefield on February 24, 1991, when 19 members of the 'Messila' resistance group engaged in a ten-hour shootout with Iraqi forces. Despite being surrounded by tanks and heavy weaponry, the young Kuwaitis refused to surrender, leading to a devastating military assault on the structure. Twelve resistance members lost their lives in the battle, while seven survived to tell the story of their sacrifice. By decree of the Emir, the building was preserved in its battle-scarred state to serve as a permanent reminder of the nation's struggle for liberation. Visitors can observe the extensive damage, shrapnel holes, and personal effects of the martyrs displayed within the ruins.
