Port of San-Pédro (Côte d’Ivoire)

Weather…

The Port of San-Pédro was built in the late 1960s and early 1970s to drive the economic development of southwest Ivory Coast. Since its official opening in 1971, it has become the world's leading export port for cocoa beans. The city of San-Pédro grew around the port and became a major industrial center. Besides cocoa, it also handles timber, rubber, and palm oil. The port plays a strategic role in decongesting Abidjan and serves as a gateway to the country's western hinterland, as well as parts of Liberia and Guinea. Recent expansion projects aim to make the port accessible to larger container ships and optimize logistics chains for mining products from the west.
