Dowlat Abad Garden (Iran)

Weather…

The Dowlat Abad Garden in Yazd is one of the nine Persian Gardens listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was established around 1747 by Mohammad Taghi Khan Bafghi, the governor of Yazd, during the Zand dynasty. The most outstanding feature of the garden is the windcatcher (badgir) of the main pavilion, which, at a height of 33.8 meters, is considered the tallest of its kind in the world. This architectural masterpiece serves the natural ventilation and cooling of the interiors by capturing wind and directing it over water pools. The garden is designed according to the Chahar Bagh (four-fold garden) principle and features long water channels lined with cypress and fruit trees. The complex originally served as a residence for local rulers and is today a prime example of Persian architecture's adaptation to extreme desert conditions.
