Amir Chakhmaq Complex (Iran)

Weather…

The Amir Chakhmaq Complex is a prominent landmark in the center of Yazd, dating back to the 15th century. It was built by Amir Jalal al-Din Chakhmaq, a governor during the Timurid dynasty. The complex includes a mosque, an inn (caravanserai), a bathhouse, and a Tekyeh, a three-story facade with symmetrical niches used for religious ceremonies. The impressive facade is brightly illuminated at night and serves as a central meeting point for city residents. A special feature in the square is the giant wooden structure called 'Nakhl', used in Shiite mourning processions during the month of Muharram. The architecture of the complex, with its characteristic arches and brickwork, is an outstanding example of medieval Persian urban planning in desert regions.
