Kalibukbuk is the animated heart of the Lovina coast in North Bali. Unlike the white beaches of the south, this area has fascinating volcanic black sand beaches. Lovina Beach is world-famous for the dolphin pods that gather off the coast every morning. Traditional outrigger boats (jukungs) take visitors out to sea at sunrise to witness these animals in their natural habitat. Beyond dolphin tours, Kalibukbuk serves as a handy base for exploring Northern Bali. The waters at Pantai Lovina are significantly calmer than in the south, making the spot excellent for families and snorkelers. The nearby coral reefs are home to a variety of marine life. The village's relaxed atmosphere is reflected in its numerous cozy cafes and restaurants serving local Balinese specialties. Culturally, the surrounding area has much to offer, including the nearby Brahma Vihara Arama, Bali's largest Buddhist temple, and the Banjar Hot Springs. Kalibukbuk maintains a much quieter charm than Kuta or Seminyak, making it popular with long-term travelers and those seeking peace. Access is typically via a scenic drive through the mountains of Central Bali.
