Situated in the historical Jászság region within Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County, Jászfényszaru presents a striking contrast between ancient heritage and high-tech manufacturing. The settlement traces its roots to the Jassic people, an Iranic ethnic group that migrated to the Carpathian Basin in the 13th century, with the town's first written record dating to 1433. For centuries, its economy was agrarian, defined by the soils of the Great Hungarian Plain. However, a monumental economic shift occurred in 1989 when Samsung Electronics selected Jászfényszaru as the site for its major European television assembly plant. This investment rapidly transformed the town of roughly 5,600 residents into a pivotal industrial node in Central Europe. The influx of corporate revenue allowed for unprecedented public infrastructure projects and the restoration of historical sites, such as Rimóczi Castle, helping the municipality regain its town charter in 1993.
