Getting there
Trails typically start from Black's Link or the gaps along the central mountain ridges. The path approaches the transmission towers visible from many parts of the city.
Best season
Visit during the drier, cooler months between November and March for comfortable hiking conditions. The trail is heavily exposed to the sun during hot summers.
Terrain & paths
Expect a mix of paved access paths near the residential areas shifting to steeper, dirt trails with occasional loose stones as you near the summit structures.
What to bring
Good traction footwear is recommended for the steeper dirt sections. Bring adequate sun protection and a hat, as shade is minimal on the upper ridges.
Parking
Parking is almost non-existent for non-residents. Taking a taxi or using public buses to the start of Black's Link is the most practical way to begin.
Safety
Keep away from restricted areas around the transmission facilities and private property boundaries. Take care on the descent, as gravel paths can be slippery.
Time needed
