Tai Tam is one of the most prestigious residential districts on Hong Kong Island, offering a unique blend of upscale living and expansive natural beauty. At its heart lies the Tai Tam Reservoir Group, a series of four reservoirs constructed between 1883 and 1917 during the British colonial era. These reservoirs are famous for their magnificent masonry dams and historic waterworks, which are now part of a designated heritage trail. The surrounding Tai Tam Country Park covers a vast area of lush hills and valleys, providing residents and hikers with numerous trails that offer panoramic views of the South China Sea. Despite the presence of high-end housing and luxury estates, the area maintains a peaceful, secluded atmosphere, making it a stark contrast to the dense urban environment found elsewhere on the island, while serving as a vital green lung for the city.
