Agkonas is a welcoming village built amphitheatrically on the slopes of Mount Nyfi on the island of Kefalonia. It is celebrated for its traditional architecture, whitewashed houses, and animated gardens. The location has some of the most spectacular vistas on the island, particularly at sunset over the deep blue waters of the Ionian Sea. A short drive downhill leads to Agia Kiriaki Beach, a beautiful stretch of white pebbles and crystal-clear waters. The village has maintained its authenticity, remaining largely untouched by mass tourism. Visitors can savor homemade Kefalonian specialties in local tavernas, such as the famous meat pie or the local Robola wine. The surrounding area is excellent for hiking along old paths that connect the mountain village to the coastline. Agkonas also serves as an excellent base for exploring the nearby Paliki peninsula or the iconic Myrtos Beach. Its tranquility and hospitable atmosphere make it a true under-the-radar destination of the island.
