Agia Mavra Castle

The Castle of Agia Mavra, located at the very entrance of Lefkada island, is an imposing fortress that has guarded the region since the 14th century. Originally built by the Sicilian Orsini family, it underwent massive expansions under the Venetians and later the Ottomans, reflecting the turbulent history of the Ionian Sea. The fortress is surrounded by the calm waters of the lagoon, offering a picturesque but formidable defensive position.
