Rösrath is a medium-sized town in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district of North Rhine-Westphalia, strategically positioned at the edge of the Bergisches Land. The municipality was formed in 1975 through local government reforms, combining the communities of Rösrath, Hoffnungsthal, Forsbach, and Kleineichen. Historically, the area was dominated by agriculture and small-scale mining, with the Haus Eulenbroich manor serving as a local administrative and social focal point since the Middle Ages. The town is bordered by the vast Königsforst forest to the west and the Wahner Heide nature reserve to the south, providing a unique ecological setting. During the industrial era, the Sülz valley became a hub for metal processing, a legacy still visible in some of the local architecture. Today, Rösrath functions as a key residential hub for the Cologne metropolitan region, supported by the A3 motorway and efficient rail links, while maintaining a rich local culture and high quality of life.
