Rheinbach is a characterful town in the Rhein-Sieg district, widely known as the 'Glass City' of western Germany. This unique reputation stems from the post-WWII era, when skilled glassworkers from Northern Bohemia settled here and established a world-class center for glass refining and design. The town's Glass Museum and the prestigious State Glass College continue to attract artists and students from across the globe. Historically, Rheinbach has deep roots, evidenced by the remnants of its medieval walls and the iconic Hexenturm (Witch's Tower), which dates back to the 12th century. The town is strategically located on the doorstep of the Eifel region, offering a great blend of urban amenities and natural beauty. As a modern university town, it hosts a campus of the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, bringing a youthful energy to the area. Visitors are also drawn to the extensive leisure park and the Monte Mare diving and spa center. Rheinbach's economy is well-rounded, focusing on education, services, and specialized manufacturing, all while maintaining its cozy, traditional Rhineland atmosphere.
