💡 Tips

  • Radevormwald is situated on a plateau, so be prepared for breezy conditions even in summer; always carry a light windbreaker.
  • Parking in the historic center (Marktplatz) can be limited; use the designated public parking areas just outside the immediate core and walk.
  • To experience the local landscape, start your hiking or cycling tour early in the morning from the Wupper dam (Wuppertalsperre) to avoid afternoon crowds.
  • Save money on outdoor activities by utilizing the well-marked trails of the Bergisches Land network instead of booking guided tours.
  • A great viewpoint is the Uelfebad, a former outdoor pool turned into a recreation area, well-suited for a short afternoon walk.

Highlights of 2026

Radevormwald is located in the Oberbergischer district of North Rhine-Westphalia and is home to a history spanning over 700 years. Situated at an elevation of around 400 meters, the town gives expansive views across the Bergisches Land region. Its history has been marred by several devastating fires, the most significant in 1802, which destroyed nearly all historic structures. Consequently, the town was rebuilt according to a strict Neoclassical plan. Industrially, Radevormwald has a long-standing tradition in the textile and metal sectors, but today it is a hub for electrical and plastics engineering (e.g., Gira). For visitors, Radevormwald is attractive due to its proximity to the Wuppertalsperre and Bevertalsperre reservoirs, as well as the Bergisches Tram Museum in the Kohlfurth district. The lush green surroundings make it a convenient base for hiking and cycling through the Bergisches Land.
