Jüchen is located in the Rhineland, positioned in an agriculturally dominated plain that nevertheless exhibits a strong industrial contrast. The city's architectural jewel is Dyck Moated Castle, one of the Rhineland's most significant cultural monuments, world-famous for its garden art and historical parks. In stark contrast is the Garzweiler II open-cast lignite mine, which borders the municipal area to the south and has led to massive landscape changes and the relocation of entire districts. Despite these challenges, Jüchen has developed into an attractive residential location that combines rural peace with proximity to the metropolises on the Rhine and Ruhr. Economically, medium-sized businesses and services dominate alongside agriculture, while the recultivation of former mining areas opens new perspectives for tourism and local recreation.
