Wassertrüdingen is an idyllic town located in the Wörnitz Valley in Middle Franconia, located between the Hesselberg mountain, the highest point in the region, and the Franconian Lake District. Historically, the town served as a strategic border post between the Principality of Ansbach and the County of Oettingen, a past that left its mark on the local architecture and layout. A transformative event for the town was hosting the Bavarian Regional Garden Show in 2019, which led to the creation of extensive new green spaces, such as the Sundial Park and the Wörnitz Park, effectively integrating the historic old town with the river's natural course. The town center features a beautiful Baroque town hall and parts of its medieval fortifications. Wassertrüdingen is an excellent base for exploring the Hesselberg, which features unique geological insights and a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. The Wörnitz river itself flows gently in large loops through the town, providing a serene environment for walking, cycling, and observing local wildlife in the protected floodplains.
