Water temperature…
Set in the hilly Kraichgau region, this wine-growing municipality gained historical fame as the birthplace of the knight Franz von Sickingen. The center is dominated by the Amthof, an impressive medieval building complex consisting of a tithe barn, a wine press, and administrative offices that once belonged to the Herrenalb monastery. Today, the complex houses a modern vinotheque where visitors can taste regional Trollinger and Lemberger wines. The St. Lawrence Church, featuring a massive 14th-century choir tower, rises prominently above the old half-timbered houses. Hikers frequently visit the adjacent Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park, whose forested ridges directly border the vineyards and provide a dense network of circular trails. A short walk to the Derdinger Horn viewpoint rewards excursionists with sweeping panoramic views across the Rhine valley all the way to the mountains of the Palatinate Forest.
