Neuenstadt am Kocher is a town in the Heilbronn district with a rich history as a former ducal residence. The town was founded in the 14th century as a planned settlement next to the older Helmbund area. Its grand Renaissance castle, expanded starting in the 16th century, served as the residence for a branch of the House of Württemberg. Neuenstadt is particularly famous for the 'Helmbund Lime Tree,' a legendary, massive tree whose branches once had to be supported by stone pillars. Geographically, the town is conveniently located near the A81 motorway, positioned in the rolling hills of the Kocher Valley. Today, Neuenstadt is a modern economic center with a focus on automotive supply and logistics. The cultural highlight of the year is the Neuenstadt Open-Air Theater, which has been performed in the historic castle courtyard for over 50 years. Hiking and cycling along the Kocher-Jagst route provide diverse nature experiences in the Württemberg wine region.
