Situated directly on the banks of the Jagst River in northeastern Baden-Württemberg, Crailsheim forms an important center of the Hohenlohe region. The town looks back on a long history, which is visible in structures like St. John Church with its detailed high altar and the Old Town Hall located on the cobblestone market square. A defining event in the municipal calendar is the Crailsheim Franconian Folk Festival, held every September and strongly associated with the tradition of the Horaffen, a special type of yeast pastry. Nature lovers will find good conditions along the Jagst Valley for extensive cycling tours and hikes through flat river landscapes. Additionally, the nearby Burgberg region and the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park attract visitors with their dense woods and quiet trails. Culinarily, Crailsheim reflects both Franconian and Swabian influences: in the long-established brewery inns and restaurants, visitors can try hearty dishes like roast pork alongside local beers in a relaxed atmosphere.
