Brufut Woods is a premier nature reserve on the West Coast of The Gambia, celebrated for its extraordinary biological diversity. Getting there
This protected forest reserve is located relatively close to the scenic coast and can be quickly and very straightforwardly reached by a local taxi or personal rental car from the highly frequented, nearby tourist resorts.
Best season
Passionate birdwatchers very frequently prefer the significantly drier winter months, when numerous spectacular migratory birds are fully present and the deeply shaded paths inside the forest are considerably less muddy.
Terrain & paths
The officially designated walking paths leading through the sometimes very dense undergrowth are largely pleasantly flat, but they do constantly require a certain, elevated level of attention due to thick foliage and roots.
What to bring
