Due to its geographic position, it serves as one of the most important border crossing points between Gabon and the Republic of the Congo, granting the town significant logistical and administrative importance. The surrounding environment is characterized by a hilly landscape and dense forest areas, typical of the Mayombe massif foothills. Historically, the region was an essential corridor for migration movements and trade exchanges between coastal areas and the interior of Central Africa.
