Mouans-Sartoux is located in the Alpes-Maritimes department, ideally situated between Cannes and Grasse in the scenic hinterland of the French Riviera. The town was formed in 1858 through the merger of the villages of Mouans and Sartoux. Today, it is nationally recognized for its pioneering efforts in ecology and sustainable urban planning. Notably, the city operates its own municipal organic farm to supply school canteens with local produce. The town's historical and cultural heart is the 16th-century Château de Mouans-Sartoux, which now houses the 'Espace de l'Art Concret', a world-class center for contemporary and abstract art. Every October, the city hosts the 'Festival du Livre', one of Southern France's most important literary festivals, drawing tens of thousands of participants. The historic center features characterful narrow streets, colorful facades, and traditional Provençal squares. Economically, the town benefits from its proximity to the Sophia Antipolis technology park and the Grasse perfume industry. Mouans-Sartoux serves as a model for modern living, proving that a commitment to environmental responsibility can enhance cultural vitality and overall quality of life.
