Water temperature…
Positioned at an altitude of 800 meters, Aiguines overlooks the vast turquoise expanse of the Lac de Sainte-Croix and the entrance to the Gorges du Verdon. The village is characterized by narrow alleys, stone houses, and a prominent Renaissance castle with polychrome tiled turrets, which dominates the local skyline. Historically, Aiguines was a center for woodturning, specifically crafting boxwood balls for the game of pétanque. While situated in the mountains, the commune extends down to the shores of the Lac de Sainte-Croix, providing several lakeside beaches. Plage du Galetas is perfectly situated at the mouth of the gorge, well-suited for renting canoes. Visitors can also swim at Plage Margaridon, Plage Vigne d'Aiguines, and Plage Les Ruisses. Other access points like Plage de Chabassole and Plage "Au droit des deux campings" cater to the local campsites. The area is a major hub for outdoor recreation. Beyond swimming and boating on the lake, the surrounding mountains offer demanding hiking trails, including routes leading up to the Grand Margès, making it a prime base for exploring the regional nature park.
